Why Kamar

Take the ka from Ebuka, the amar from Amara.

They overlap on a single letter and give you Kamar — which, we later found out, is the Arabic word for moon. So this is Moon Tales: two names folded into one, and a light that has been getting fuller since January 2025.

On the night of the wedding the moon will be a waxing gibbous — about 93% full. Two days short, and near enough.

A number, quietly stolen

It was sitting in the church WhatsApp group. Ebuka took it, and messaged her the same day — no introduction, no mutual friend to hide behind. Nothing visible yet, and no way of knowing.

Five months of talking, and then a plain question that gave the talking a name. The first sliver of light — and from here, the only direction it goes is fuller.

A question at Tarkwa Bay

She had been told it was a group sleepover at the beach. It was — right up until it wasn't. A beach with no road to it, the water going out and coming back, and a question she had no idea was coming. Half lit, half still ahead.

Questions we've been asked

Can I bring a plus-one?

Your seat count is fixed when we add you to the guest list, and it shows in the RSVP form — it isn't something you can change. If it says two, bring one person. If you genuinely need more, call us rather than turning up and hoping.

I didn't RSVP. Can I still come?

The church, yes — that door is open to everyone. The reception, no. Our stewards check every guest against the list at Canary World, and without an RSVP or a physical access card you will be turned away. Please RSVP by 21 November.

Do I need to print the QR code?

No. Show it on your phone. Print it only if you would rather not fumble with a screen at the door.

What time should I actually arrive?

9:30 AM for the church — it starts at ten and Lagos traffic is Lagos traffic. Doors at Canary World open at 1:30 PM.

Are children welcome?

This one is an adults-only celebration — no children, please. We know that means arranging something at home, and we are grateful to you for it.

Where do I park?

There is parking at both venues. Stewards in sage green will point you in.
